William Blake - Love's Secret

Never seek to tell thy love,
Love that never told can be;
For the gentle wind doth move
Silently, invisibly.

I told my love, I told my love,
I told her all my heart,
Trembling, cold, in ghastly fears.
Ah! she did depart!

Soon after she was gone from me,
A traveller came by,
Silently, invisibly:
He took her with a sigh.

when william blake was a child, he had "visions". he claimed that Jesus, John Milton,Socrates, and biblical prophets would visit him. he "saw" a "tree filled with angels." so...i was thinking...maybe these were the secrets that he told his love. he told her his crazy visions and scared the girl. i'm thinking that you'd never tell anyone something like that unless you're close to them so that's why it hit him so hard. and the "traveller" and the "wind" is him saying it metaphorically because it was his visions what scared her away!...maybe...just throwing it out there.

I had to analyze this poem as part of an AP English assignment, and at first I had the same thought about this poem as most of the people, here. But then I realized that maybe he wasn't chasing a romantic love. Maybe his wife, was sick, and was about to die, and he wanted to tell her his feelings, but they were to outrageous to express, and before he knew it, death took her away.
