I felt a great affinity in what Roethke writes about in this poem. I liked the way he traversed both the landscape about him as well as his own inner world. I found the imagery simple yet rich and I felt it had a direct physical impact on me.
I am inspired to find out more about him and to read more of his work.

I guess eventually we have to all consider our own end. The part at the beginning where he describes driving out along a penninsula in the snow, that was amazing. And the very end is very good, but man, almost a cliche, and I hate to say that because I love it.
