The poem is rather complex but if looked at in a metaphorical way,it has a crucial message that should be adhered to.This message talks of the way the way the doesnt appreciate the things it has.Therefore when the crucial things go it will regret greatly.As the saying goes 'absense makes the heart grow fonder'!!!
