Sir Thomas Brown - My Garden

A garden is a lovesome thing, God wot!
Rose plot,
Fringed pool,
Ferned grot--
The veriest school
Of peace; and yet the fool
Contends that God is not--
Not God! in gardens! when the eve is cool?
Nay, but I have a sign;
'Tis very sure God walks in mine.

I first came across this poem at school, more than 50 years ago. Somehow of of the poems taught to us, this one has been on my mind throughout. It is a small poem with so much packed into it, The auditory imagination is amazing. I have created a little garden in my balcony, where I begin my day early every morning, and quietly read these few lines and I truly feel the presence of God not only in my garden,but throughout the day
