Can any-one expain the lines
"I gave commands;
Then all smiles stopped together."

Does this IMPLY that the Duke killed his wife, or that she just stopped smilling?

Browning conveys so much character in--what? 60 lines or so? What the poem conveys entirely through this one speech could be turned into a novel.

It can described as the real attiude of suspicous..
you can imagine how this duck select a very savage result for his wife kindness..

it shows the possiveness of the duke which turns into cruelty.
