Rainer Maria Rilke - Again And Again, However We Know The Landscape Of Love

Again and again, however we know the landscape of love
and the little churchyard there, with its sorrowing names,
and the frighteningly silent abyss into which the others
fall: again and again the two of us walk out together
under the ancient trees, lie down again and again
among the flowers, face to face with the sky.

Laurie, Bach for the clavier, the translation to modern piano presents little challenge to the music; as such, the spirit behind Rilke's words somehow travels through whatever conduit/language it passes.

no matter how many love poems i've read or written,
this one always draws me back as the most beautiful
and most pure...
i've always wondered how the essence of a magnificent piece, such as this, does not get lost through translation....
