I was wondering if anyone knows some history about this poem. I am writing a paper on it and I want to know what year he wrote it or anything else that could be useful. If possible write me back on email but if not then just respond.

This is a great poem but the best ones of Neruda are in spanish it is really fun the way the english speakers have difficulties to understand the poems when the poems in english are the neruda's simplest poems.

This poem, by far the greatest I've read until now, is not about falling in love with someone in particular. It expresses what each and every one of us experience or at least would like to experience: the state of mind and spirit that makes one depend entirely on the loved person's love. We all need to love and be loved in return and most of us, I think, will live their life and try making it better for the sake of LOVE!! It's quite unnatural what love does to a human beeing and to its senses and this poem has just the propper words to describe this state and also the natural fear of losing the purpose of life: LOVE; because in this world nothing lasts for ever...

To me, the poem isn't about love between a man and a woman. It's how we all fall in love with a feeling, with love itself. Sometimes we think we are in love, but in fact we are in love with love, with the feeling of being in love. It's about our fear of being alone.

Well, my girlfriend went to a party with my best friend. I love her very much but was ver angry at her.
Unfortunately being in love is like being drunk, you cant write straigh for shit. Actually i think i did have a couple beers before i wrote it too :D
Glad you all liked it, please buy my book and help me pay for my partying ;D
