Even though through the ages, men will continue the works and memory of a tyrant and a despot Byron did the body of his works a disservice by upholding this individual... Oh Byron, why did you do it.

One of my favourite poems - especially in the setting by Arnold Schoenberg (where I'm sure he was equating Napoleon with Hitler). I've seen versions with two more stanzas, though?

As Byron has said(last verse) no country could be more blessed than to have had George Washington as their leader in its formative years. His reputation, like almost no other "great men" is unsullied
