It is interesting that both Elizabeth Browning and William Blake both held strong convictions about the problem of child labour. Yet still it took so long for England to hear and make the needed changes. And yet still we have the problem in so many other places in the world. I highly respect this author for her strong convictions and honesty. I also am glad she had the courage, in her time, to come out and say what needed to be said. She also writes in such a way to help the reader actually see how these children are hurting and how they are not getting the help they need. It is very important, I believe, that she mentions how the adults preaching about God to the children are the very ones who are making it hard for them to believe in God with the conditions they had to live and work in.

This poem is an excellent poem ,although it has been written for many years but it still show a scene of many suffering children around the world…
I think if one could read and try to understand the poem with his emotions he could feel the pain of suffering children and crying mothers of that time and now…

Mrs. Barrett Browning was a true hero. Her writing is truth and painful all together. This is one of my favorite poems because she displayed the harm of child labor. It is sad to know that there are children in the world who probably have the same lives of the ones in the poem. Peace!

God bless the children. God bless Mrs. Browning for her courage and conviction, to put into words, what others had in their eyes.
