Analysis and comments on Elegy by Dylan Thomas

Comment 2 of 2, added on May 21st, 2005 at 1:18 AM.

In the tradition of Do Not Go Gentle Into That Good Night, Elegy is another poetically masterful insight which delves into the interrelationship Thomas shared with his near-blind and disease-stricken father during the final years of his life; a subject Thomas frequently recollects throughout the decade surrounding his father's death.

cf do not go gentle into that good night

this was left unfinished at Thomas' death. The first seventeen lines were untouched, but the rest was reconstructed from Thomas' manuscript by his friend Vernon Watkins.
