Christina Rossetti - Mirage

The hope I dreamed of was a dream,
Was but a dream; and now I wake,
Exceeding comfortless, and worn, and old,
For a dream's sake.

I hang my harp upon a tree,
A weeping willow in a lake;
I hang my silent harp there, wrung and snapped
For a dream's sake.

Lie still, lie still, my breaking heart;
My silent heart, lie still and break:
Life, and the world, and mine own self, are changed
For a dream's sake.

I am here again as a brokenhearted caregiver to pay tribute to another dear sweet lady Emmaline Gilkes, Emmy passed away yesterday, so quickly and unexpectedly, and again my heart is heavy, I am questioning my decision to be an elder caregiver, but I think of Aunt Ag, Wanda and Emmy with her smiling face, and I know that even if it was for a short while I made them feel happy and safe and I wonder if this is enough, I know for these dear ladies it was, but my own soul in so heavy....?

Emmy, I will miss u, I'm glad I got to meet you.

I found this poem the day after I lost my dear friend (a special lady that I was a caregiver for, for the last 7 months). I went to a caregivers support page and this poem was there. It put forth the words that my heart felt. It is a tribute to my friend Agnes Werner.

I miss u Aunt Ag.
