Like the Magnoia Soundtrack, this soundtrack matches the movie impressively. The music when played in the movie is meant to show the mood of the scenes, and it does this in amazing fashion. A perfect example is the use of The Who's The Seeker to show his new found teenage anguish. This sountrack is one o the best representations of its type that I have listened to. It holds its own against the Magnolia soundtrack and sound Track to the original Crow. If you like the music that was played in the movie, then you will love this soundtrack, even if Bob Dylan's song is left out. I will remind anyone that reads this that not all the songs can be released, as some rights have only been given to the actual motion picture. Many of the best songs form the movie itself are left off this Cd, however it is very powerful without them. If you buy any two soundtracks from this years array of movies make them American Beauty and Magnolia.

Every song is diiferent from the next. I never get bored listening to this CD. When I haven't heard it in a while, I always realize how much I enjoy it. From the eery theme to classic rock to jazz to vocals. It's great.

where is all along the watchtower? the original version sung by bob dylan himself is undoubtedly one of the best songs in the movie. the fact that this song is played during one of the most tense and stressful scenes in the film (go see this movie if you haven't and you'll see what i mean) makes it even more obvious for it to be included in the soundtrack, and shameful/dissapointing that they didn't include it. maybe bob dylan wasn't willing enough...darn it! the CD is still excellent.

Several people have posted here wondering what the song is in the TV commercial. That is the Who's "Baba O'Reilly." You've probably heard it...it is the song that goes "Teenage Wasteland." Interestingly, the protagonist in that song runs away with the girl next door. "Baba O'Reilly" is on the album "Who's Next." If you like it you might be interested to know that the song also is featured in the movie _Summer of Sam._

This cd is unlike anything I have heard before. It doesn't have a set type of music like most soundtracks I've heard before, but rather a strange mix ranging from classic rock remakes (Because) to swingin' jazz sets. Unfortunately, this cd will confuse those who have seen the movie, because most tracks (and I do mean MOST) are nowhere to be found on the movie itself (track 10). Others such as that Anne Lennox song, are not at all on the disc.
But if you are interested in the strange and eclectic mixes of soundtracks, this is the album to buy....
