Rating: 2 out of 5 stars - i don't like it
first thing you need to know is that i'm not computer literate and don't understand a lot of technical stuff. for someone who doesn't know what they are doing, i find this thing not very user friendly. there are a lot of options as to how something should sound. i don't understand which program suppose to sound the best with what cd, dvd or whatever. the manual confuses me as it makes references to various pages. i find the "straight" program doesn't sound the best. i don't know. i'm pretty ... Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Nice receiver but hard to use...
The receiver produces great sound and has pretty much all the hook ups you could need. I have had some trouble with the onscreen display and programming the sound fields. Overall, this is a good receiver but can be difficult to use for the novice (or even slightly advanced) user.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - resolution switching issue
Good receiver for the money. Nice options with one-touch pre-program on. Could use one more HDMI IN, but not major. I was having a major issue playing cable box source. The receiver hates dealing with resolution changes on the fly sent from TWC box. Going back and forth between 480-720-1080 can create just static and flashing. I thought the item was defective but new replacement did the same thing. SET YOUR CABLE SOURCE TO ONLY 1080. Deselect 480 and 720 outputs. The box must upsample or something. ... Read More

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Back From Hell To Heaven
I was going through a little hell with a pioneer vsx-918v.I noticed one of the other reviews on this Yamaha also mentioned that Pioneer model as well.I could get alot of bass from the pioneer for dolby digital and dts movies but hardly a trace with the cd setting. After spending countless hours on the phone with several tech support people,I was told that the pioneer is not designed for stereo music and that was why I wasn't getting any bass with my cds.I really don't understand this explanation.I am really ... Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Awesome quality low-end receiver w/great nextgen features
After trying 4 different models (Onkyo TX-SR506/TX-SR576, Pioneer VSX-918V and Yamaha RX-V463), I decided to go with solidly made, the Yamaha RX-V463. This receiver stood out in all aspects except the HDMI 1.3. Amazon description says it's HDMI 1.3 but it's actually 1.2 but supports full 1080p pass without any upscaling and plays both audio and video. Personally, for audio I still prefer Optical over HDMI.

I bought this primarily to listen to music in a 2.1 setup with Infinity tower BETA 40 fronts ... Read More
