Editorial Review:
Album Description: The internationally acclaimed ensemble Ahn Trio makes its Sony BMG Masterworks debut with Lullaby for my Favorite Insomniac. Sisters Angella (violin), Lucia (piano) and Maria (cello) continue their commitment to modernize and reinvent the standard piano-trio repertoire and structure on this new album. Lullaby for my Favorite Insomniac is a fusion of established works with material specially commissioned for the trio. Included on the record are several tracks that build on the music of fellow Julliard-graduate and award-winning composer Kenji Bunch, a variety of commissioned works by Michael Nyman and Astor Piazzolla and innovative arrangements of music by Pat Metheny and David Bowie. The trio is joined vocally on the record by singer-songwriter Susie Suh. As a special addition, four bonus tracks are included with the new album, which features remixes by Tao of Sound, DJ Spooky, Superdrive and Ra.D.

Rating: - New Age Music
Here's a tip for you: if someone feels it necessary to say certain music is not New Age, you can be pretty sure it is. This is pleasant, anesthetic, soporific background music. Listen to the samples carefully before you buy.
Rating: - Beautiful Music
I stumbled over this CD when I was looking for relaxing music to help me sleep. The title drew me in. For the most part, I love the music. The only thing that prevents me from giving it 5 stars is that I wasn't too crazy for the non-instrumental songs.

LULLABY FOR MY FAVORITE INSOMNIAC
The Ahn Trio is comprised of three sisters born in Korea and educated in the U.S.A. at the prestigious Juilliard School. They play piano, violin and cello and their deep-roots in the classical tradition are clearly evident. But consistent with their last two albums, their fifth CD, Lullaby for my Favorite Insomniac (Sony-BMG-RCA), finds them playing everything but traditional classical repertoire. They try their hand at "My Funny Valentine," ... Read More

Rating: - WOW! This is terrific!
I have enjoyed Ahn Trio concerts for many years, and was lucky to have been able to hear several pieces from this disc prior to its release. LULLABY FOR MY FAVORITE INSOMNIAC shows off how versatile the Ahns are as artists, and how versatile and far-reaching their music is. I particularly enjoyed the pieces written for the Trio by the talented composers Kenji Bunch and Ron Yedidia. The title track is terrific! On another note, I have been pleased with how easily this entire collection - especially tracks like ... Read More
