I'm not an audiophile, and besides, my wife can't stand me really blasting the volume. This unit replaced a much more expensive ampliflier that finally lost the center channel for my Bose bass + 3 cube speaker system; the sound is just teriffic. I don't know how it would sound in a very large room with very expensive speakers, but it sounds great in our den. Rating: - Great Low Cost Receiver
Can't go wrong with this receiver for your AV system. Looks great, doesn't break the bank, and has all the features you need. It was easy to use, and setup per the instructions. I suggest you download the instructions and read them ahead of time so you can get all the cables you need. Sounds great even through an unpowered sub woofer. Also the connections are laid out nicely compared to other receivers.
Rating:  - You get what you pay for.
This unit is difficult to set up. Auto config for speakers does not work. Manual is a joke. Sound quality is poor to bad. I would not buy another Onkyo product. I am back to Sony next time.

We actually purchased 2 Onkyo TX-SR304B receivers about three weeks ago from Amazon at a surprisingly good price. We're using one Onkyo in our living room and one in the bedroom to enhance the sound from our new HD Samsung TVs.
[1] The dark black receiver looks great.
[2] The audio experience brings a new dimension to the HD experience. I can't begin to describe the difference between listening to the tiny TV speakers vs. the sound coming out of true audio speakers.
