I bought this for the sole purpose of melting cheese for homemade mac & cheese and it works beautifully. The design is elegant and sturdy. It cleans up like a dream...even after melting notoriously sticky cheese! It stacks and stores neatly in one piece as well. It's deeper than I expected and held 16 oz of shredded cheese, 4 oz of cream cheese, 4 oz of velvetta and 12 oz of evaporated milk with no problem at all, leaving plenty of room to stir without making a mess. I'd been wanting one for a while, and I was so glad my husband got me one for my birthday, especially after the Christmas fiasco I had. I needed to melt chocolate for dipping peanut butter balls, so I tried using one small saucepan over a bigger one.
