Rating:  - Cheap, shoddy plastic on lids
I've had this Crockpot about two or three years. I've used it about 6-8 times per year. And the plastic handle on the lid cracked in two and fell off.
I was about to accept this as a weird fluke, until the plastic handle on the lid of my larger Crockpot did the exact same thing a few months later. I'd had it longer, but used it less. WTF?
I can't find replacement lids for both models on their site. They have no online support. So what am I to do with two Crockpots ... Read More
Rating:  - Rival Crock Pot Review
I just bought this crok-pot and I've used it twice. Its great for the price and size. I've made a few stews and soups. I recommend buying a good cookbook with it unless you're already an experienced crock-pot user. It does spatter but I assume that that's how its letting out steam which is normal for evaporation right? I haven't really used any other crock-pots so I can't compare. I think this is a great crock-pot to start out with since it is small and inexpensive.

I bought this to replace an old crockpot. In reading the reviews of Rival crockpots, it seems that you have about a good chance of getting a bad one. I was one of the lucky ones with this model. It has performed well and I have not had any of the problems with burning or a loose lid. Hopefully it will last a long time and not die on me prematurely. I have used all my old "standard" recipes and not had any untoward results. So far so good. I also really like the red color.
Rating: - Good Basic Crockpot
I got this from Target about a year ago. I only got this one because it was under $17, and it was red which matched my kitchen! Usually I research until I find the right one for me, but it was a good deal for a basic crock.
I've fit 5 lbs of wings, 3 lbs of chicken thighs, and about a 5 lb (give or take) roast. The roast was cutting it close but I smooshed the cover on and it came out just fine.

Rating:  - Too hot! We are throwing ours out!
We bought this model at Target half a year ago. We bought it because we have had great luck with our previous Rival crockpot from the 1980s. Sadly, Rival crockpots are no longer what they are "crocked up to be."
The main problem, which is apparently endemic across the Rival product line, is that low and high cook at the same temperature. Liquids boil vigorously on low, and it has sucked the life out of every roast we have prepared in it. Time to toss it out and switch to Cuisinart!
