Product Description:
Visioneer wrote the book on ease-of-use. The revolutionary OneTouch technology simplifies the way people use a scanner. The OneTouch buttons are pre-configured for common scanning tasks so you get great results within minutes of opening the box. Button settings can be customized to unleash even more power for advanced users. The Visioneer OneTouch 9420 USB is blazing fast. The Hi-Speed USB logo is your assurance that the OneTouch 9420 USB transfers data to your computer up to 40 times faster than a USB 1.1 scanner yet the OneTouch 9420 is fully compatible with all USB ports including USB 1.1. 48-bit internal color capability recognizes over 281 trillion colors. 48-bit scanners capture more detail in the shadow and highlight areas of an image than their 42-bit predecessors, so you'll get brighter yellows, richer reds, cooler blues, and everything between.4800 x 9600 dpi optical resolution eliminates jagged edges and captures the finest detail from your original. The Visioneer OneTouch 9420 USB includes a built-in backlight and film holder for scanning 35mm slides and negatives. Archive old photos from negatives for higher quality. Just press a OneTouch button to scan and send an image to the destination of your choice. While intelligent default button settings give perfect results on common scanning tasks, the OneTouch preferences utility makes it simple to customize the buttons. The world's best-selling document and image management application creates thumbnails of everything you scan allowing easy filing in color-coded folders. ScanSoft's TextBridge Optical Character Recognition engine is built-in to PaperPort so you can easily use the scanner's OCR button to scan printed text directly into your word processor where it is fully editable.

Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - Ready to throw it out the window...
I bought the Visioneer OneTouch 9420 about a year ago. It ran beautifully for the two times that I used it over a period of 2 months, but then the scanner died. The first two technicians I was subjected to at Visioneer were extremely rude, sounding as if they coundn't be bothered. They insinuated that I must have loaded it improperly (even after it worked very well initially). After much hassle with the company, they agreed that the product was defective, and eventually replaced it.

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - Scan
It works fine, and I don't expect much. Bought the first unit for home use, mostly copying my daughter's artistic creations. Got a second one for my desk at work - works fine. I am now 'Scan Boy' at the office.

Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - BAD IDEA
I am soooo sorry I purchased this scanner. All it did was totally mess up my Dell system. I had to hire a computer technician to undo all the damage and hidden files, and drivers that this item came with. I've used Visioneer before, with no problem. This one was a lemon. Oh, I almost forgot to mention the scanning light could not be recalibrated.

Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - BE CAREFUL
Be VERY careful when purchasing anything from Visioneer. I own a visioneer One Touch 9220, and just learned they have NO intention of providing a driver for VISTA. Not only that, I had to PAY to learn that. Their corporate greed exceeds belief. If you think you might, someday in the future, be upgrading your computer, I would have to suggest buying some other scanner

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - you get what you pay for....
I had the 9020 version so I decided to get the upgrade. All the features are nice, but I'm getting lines whenever I set the scan at anything higher than 100 dpi. The scan bar stops and starts instead of having a continuous scan. I'm trying to find if it has patch or someway to repair it, as I think I've read it does. I'll give an update if I do.

EDIT 12/17/07: I've since discovered that the main reasons I was having problems with this scanner is that the computer had trouble accessing the ... Read More
