Rating:  - AVOID VORNADO LIKE YOU WOULD THE PLAGUE
I'm posting this on all Vornado listings on Amazon, as all potential purchasers need to be aware of the shortcomings of Vornado's warranty policy.
I purchased two fans from Vornado direct. Both were larger, more expensive units (280 & 285) that had either ten year or lifetime warranties.
One year after the purchase, the 285 began to vibrate upon start-up. The fan blades would barely revolve, and the fan emitted a loud rattling sound.

Rating:  - Vornado really moves the air.
I have received great use out of this product. It effectively circulates the are unlike other fans I've used before. I will add that on the higher settings 2 and 3 respectively there is a noise factor. I have been able to reduce my electric bill by using thses fans. Would buy again and recommend for others.
Rating:  - Not what I wanted.....
I wanted the older version with the variable speed control, not the three-speed version. While the 3-speed is quieter than most fans on low, it still makes a fair amount of noise. When I turn my older variable speed version to the lowest setting, I can still get a cool breeze and barely hear it at all, which is perfect for sleeping under on a warm night. I've been a long time lover of Vornado's. I own four. They are quite, relable, powerful and easy to clean. You can't go wrong with a Vornado.

Bought this fan for use as a portable to move room to room as needed .
It is doing just what I want and easy to move .
I have a large Vornado floor fan that I believe may have been on for at least 6 years night and day through all seasons .
it is still working great too .
