Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - What a beautiful voice!!!! Another Overlooked Diva in the Making
When I heard the track "I'm Coming Back", she simply blew me away with her voice. I have to ask, WHO's been keeping this music out of the spotlight???? This is the kind of R & B that has long been lost since the late 80s and early 90s, when artists like Anita Baker, Luther Vandross, Miki Howard, and Freddie Jackson gave us the kind of R & B music we could truly appreciate. I'm not real familiar with her father's voice, but I must say that her voice is stunning. We don't need another Britney, ... Read More

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Lalah Hathaway - Where She Started From
If you have become a Lalah Hathaway fan in the last five years, this album is her first album; where all the recent good music started from. I bought this album because there were some songs I just had to have of hers to complete a compilation CD that I made of her music. There is some very good music on it that showcases her as she begun her singing career. So, if you like her two most recent albums and you want some oldies that are like those, buy this!

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - Wonderful Debut
I bought this as an LP when it was released umpteen years ago and as I listen to it today, I remember why I loved it so much then and why I love it now...ol girl can sing! She sounds so much like her dad, but with her own flavor. I believe Baby Don't Cry was the break-out hit, but Smile is the absolute best cut on this CD. I'm Coming Back and I Gotta Move On are also outstanding tracks. Stay Home Tonight, Somethin' and Heaven Knows deserve a mention, as well. Despite the three filler tracks, as ... Read More

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Love it!!
When I heard her version of "Forever, for always, for love" by the late and great Luther Vandross I was floored!! I always knew she had a strong voice but I did not know how strong until I purchased her latest CD. I love it!! It just takes me to so many past time memories in my life, good and bad. Her lyrics paints pictures in your mind. Her voice is just incredible...

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Music from my teens that I ...
didn't even know about. I just remember my mother and her friends grooving to some tunes from someone who I thought was acutally a guy - maybe Mr. Donny Hathaway reicarnate- whoever that was I remember thinking at the time. Only until recetly while dappling around was I hit with so much familiarity with this album. Not only is it great because it puts me back in my little twin bedroom dancing around, but that this album has the stamina to sound as amazing now as it did then. Ms. Hathaway did good!!!
