Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - Lee Tracy, the forgotten actor
Having seen the wonderful Mr Tracy in support of John Barrymore in Twentieth Century,I was`really looking forward to a chance to see him in a starring role. The role was`just too meager to give him much to work with. However, any Warner's product from the early 30's is always worth a look.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Lee Tracy's star undimmed after 'Pancho Villa' fiasco
Contrary to popular legend, Lee Tracy's star status DID NOT end in 1934 with his "raining" on a Mexican military parade. Although fired from the set of PANCHO VILLA for this act of urinary indiscretion, from 1935 to '48 Tracy had top billing in 13 movies and co-starred in 2. It's curious then that modern audiences don't remember Lee Tracy as well as other big names of early WARNER and MGM talkies.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - "A family's a great thing, especially for a married man."

Lee Tracy is great as the hard nosed reporter who cares much more about his growing fame and fortune than the people he scandalizes. He shines in one scene in which he describes a trip to the electric chair in excellent emotional detail. When ... Read More

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - A pre code classic
Lee tracy was one of those frustrating actors, like Robert Downey, who had - have -such a talent and frittered it away. This film is Lee Tracy at his peak. He play a tabloid journalist to wisecracking perfection. Very much worth any classic film fan's time. You might also check out Bombshell with Jean Harlow for another nice Lee Tracy bit.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - SNAPPY ENTERTAINMENT.
In this newspaper comedy-satire, based on the rise of the fast-talking gossip columnist Walter Winchell, Tracy shows his peerless style: probably nobody in Hollywood history was better at the art of timing and placing a wisecrack than Lee Tracy (he also gesticulated, using his hands as much as his voice, to great advantage). Tracy could get a sob in his voice for the benefit of his radio listeners - while grinning at his intimates! The columnist has a pet peeve: a bright-eyed young crooner with a moronic ...
