Rating: - Very Pleasant Trip
As a Southerner, a lover of Southern literature, and the owner of two Boykin Spaniels, when I heard this was a novel set on a plantation turned Boykin Spaniel farm, I really wanted to LOVE this book. I'm sorry to say I didn't love it. Didn't hate it--just didn't love it. It wasn't bad, it was just kind of flat. It was an interesting story with well crafted characters but they weren't totally believable. The book painted a picture of a lovely place and I enjoyed my journey there, but I was disappointed ... Rating: - Same Old Story
I picked this up from the library after I finished Nora, Nora. I love the way Siddons writes and I think she tells a good story. However, I wish I hadn't read it right after Nora, Nora. Is Siddons running out of plot ideas? It's basically the same story, various parts tweaked. Rating: - Another Siddons Favorite
This was actually the first book I had read by Anne Rivers Siddons, and it is the reason she is one of my favorite authors. I couldn't put this one down. My attention was held from the very first page all the way to the last one. I won't give you all the creative, wonderfully written details, I will just say this is one great book to read. Emily is one unforgettable character.

It has been quite awhile since I have read anything by Anne Rivers Siddon. I love her books and have most of them in my collection. This particular book came to me by accident. It was a gift given to me by my secret sister and how did she know that I haven't read this one or owned a copy of it ... is a great mystery. Anyhow, this weekend, I decided to take a break from reading nonfiction and burrowed my head into this one.
I couldn't drag myself away from the story. It is about a young girl ... Read More

Sweetwater Creek is a beautifully written book. The author has a talent for descriptive phrases that are breathtaking. It is very difficult to put down.
