Amazon.com Review:
The Complete Idiot's Guide to Skiing provides all the basics to help you enjoy a day on the slopes. Although designed with the novice in mind, this resourceful guide is also handy for the occasional skier or the family taking its first ski vacation together. Chapters provide detailed information on the gear you'll need (and how to get fitted for the right stuff); making turns; graduating to moguls, powder, and steep terrain; planning a vacation; skiing with children; and other forms of snow fun such as cross-country skiing and snowboarding. Read this and you won't get left at the bunny slope.

Rating: 2 out of 5 stars - Complete Idiots Guide to Skiing
A very elementary introduction to skiing. Only good for the very beginners.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Great for New Skiers
I've been skiing for a long time, so I don't need this book, but I think it's great for new skiers. I've given it to a couple of beginners and people who said they wanted to try skiing. It covers all the basics--clearly and succinctly--but it doesn't overload new skiers with more information than they need.

Rating: 2 out of 5 stars - First-Time Skiers Only!

There were some interesting tidbits in the book but on the whole I found it very lacking. If you have never ever been skiing and know absolutely nothing about it then the book might be helpful....but if ... Read More

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - VERY NICE BOOK FOR VERY BEGINNERS
Excellent book for someone who has never skied and is not used to snow activities.

All the basics are in there, not aiming to replace a real ski class. The author fully achieved the goal proposed.
